Senior AI Engineer – AI Assurance & Controls
We are looking for a Senior AI Expert – Applied AI & Assurance to strengthen our international Control Testing Team (CTT) within Group ICS Management.
CTT provides independent assurance through the testing of internal controls across the Deutsche Telekom Group. Your mandate will be to advance CTT’s transition towards AI-enabled assurance and strengthen our capability to independently assess AI-enabled processes, systems and controls.
You will complement our established controls and assurance expertise with strong applied AI expertise and technical understanding. The role focuses on three connected outcomes:
- applying AI to improve the quality, efficiency and insight of control testing;
- enabling independent assessments of AI-enabled processes, systems and controls; and
- strengthening the consideration of AI-related risks and controls within the ICS.
This role is designed for an applied AI professional who also brings a foundation in audit or assurance. As CTT’s AI subject-matter expert, you will turn technological possibilities into reliable and practical assurance solutions, enable experienced auditors to use AI effectively, and bring technical expertise to assurance engagements.
Senior AI Engineer – AI Assurance & Controls
Your responsibilities will include:
- Shape and drive CTT’s AI use-case roadmap. Identify and prioritize opportunities based on assurance value, feasibility, risk and scalability, and take selected use cases from concept through prototyping, evaluation and piloting.
- Define practical evaluation criteria and guardrails for AI-enabled testing approaches, including reliability, traceability, limitations, monitoring and appropriate human oversight.
- Develop reusable methods, workflows and guidance for AI-enabled control testing, and build CTT capability through coaching, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the AI subject-matter expert in independent assessments of AI-enabled processes, systems and controls. Develop and apply risk-based approaches that translate technical observations into relevant risks, control implications and evidence-based conclusions.
- Provide subject-matter input to Business Units on AI-related risks and control considerations.
- Monitor relevant technological, governance and regulatory developments and translate them into practical updates to CTT’s assurance approach and the ICS.
What we expect from you:
- Several years of relevant professional experience in applied AI, AI transformation, AI architecture, AI/ML, data analytics or a comparable AI-focused field, with a demonstrated track record of taking AI use cases from problem definition through prototyping and evaluation to a validated pilot or operational use.
- Practical experience in audit or assurance, gained for example in internal or external audit, internal controls, or a comparable assurance environment.
- Experience with AI governance, Responsible AI, AI risk management or relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Strong practical understanding of modern AI systems, including generative and agentic AI, and hands-on experience prototyping and evaluating AI-enabled workflows.
- Ability to critically assess AI solutions, including their design, data dependencies, performance, reliability, limitations, failure modes, monitoring and human oversight.
- Ability to translate complex AI topics into clear business and assurance implications, communicate credibly with technical and business stakeholders, and enable auditors to apply the resulting approaches effectively.
- Strong analytical and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work autonomously, drive complex workstreams and influence without formal authority in an international environment.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
